 It's Here!

Our next release which is almost complete will allow posting to the Ventrian News Articles module using Windows Live Writer.  If you use the Ventrian News Articles module, you'll love the level of integration with Windows Live Writer provided by metaPost.  The New Features video shows how easy it is to use metaPost to take advantage of some of the built in News Articles features like

  • Multiple pages
  • Setting the Featured flag from within WLW
  • Setting the Secure flag from within WLW
  • Adding a featured image from within WLW
  • Setting the Expiration Date (Professional Edition, if requested, we'll also put this in the Community Edition)
  • Optionally exclude footer per WLW account (Coming soon in the Professional Edition)

Combine all this with the ability that metaPost provides to import your theme into Windows Live Writer and you have a great, new way to manage your News Articles content.  Here are the details regarding how to log in, and here's a recap of the bare minimum  you need to get started:

  • User: cheddar
  • Password: extrasharp
  • Remote Posting URL: http://metapost.itcrossing.com/metapost.ashx?key=news articles.

Have fun and please keep it clean!

Cheddar is never clean!

Featured Article Image Test by cheddar
This article starts with a text summary and includes a single content region with the new Featured Image included. The featured image feature allows you to add an image anywhere in the content and specify that it should be used as the feature image by setting the alt attribute (advanced tab of image properties on the right in WLW) to ai, short for article image. metaPost will remove this image from the post and configure it as the featured image for the News Articles module. The easiest place to place your featured image is at the very top of your post, but this isn't required. Also, there were problems with case sensitivity and the ability to use the excerpt field that were fixed in metaPost 1.1.7 which is due to be released this evening (02/23/2008).
